What TASC does

TASC, a division of Meridian HealthCare, is responsible for the effective coordination of Drug and Alcohol Treatment as it relates to the Criminal Justice System. An OhioMHAS Certified Treatment Agency, TASC is committed to establishing effective and comprehensive supervision of Chemical Dependency treatment of eligible criminal offenders in an effort to curtail recidivism and address community need.

The agency currently provides assessment, drug testing, case management and non-intensive outpatient services to several specialty court programs, all Mahoning County Courts, the Adult Parole Authority, and Girard Municipal Court.

Following a comprehensive assessment that matches the client with the most appropriate level of care based on OhioMHAS criteria, the program facilitates referrals to treatment. Factors such as transportation barriers, specific client programming and client preference are considered.

TASC helps offenders engage in treatment and assists in referrals to all other ancillary needs such as mental health counseling, GED classes, job training, etc.

Due to strong correlation between crime and the use of alcohol and/or drugs, it is clinically accepted that addressing demand rather than supply is essential to curtailing drug-related offenses.

Therefore, early identification, assessment, referral, monitoring and case management offered by TASC assists the criminal justice system and enables offenders to have a more fulfilling and therefore successful treatment experience. By combining AOD treatment and the judiciary, graduated sanctions and a comprehensive approach to Case Management, this method reduces recidivism and hold offenders accountable
