About Prevention

A child who reaches age 21 without smoking, abusing alcohol, or using drugs is virtually certain never to do so.

Prevention by Meridian’s purpose is to educate our community on the facts of drugs and alcohol abuse, stopping these and other dangerous behaviors before they start. Meridian is committed to building a drug-free future for our children.

It is also very important to us to constantly raise awareness in the community about issues related to drug and alcohol abuse — in particular, reducing misconceptions about who it affects and providing information about resources available to those in need.

As part of the overall continuum of services for adolescents, Meridian offers Prevention services that speak to these issues — including not only drug and alcohol abuse, but also depression, bullying and suicide.

Knowledge and education are the keys, and our Prevention programs focus on three fronts: youth, families and the community as a whole.
